Data submitted by the general public using our contact form & quote request form is only processed by John Shirley Ltd. and not by any third parties. The captured contact form and quote request form data is stored by us for a maximum of 6 months, after which time it is deleted permanently.

The lawful basis for processing this data is legitimate interest whereby the processing is necessary and has been requested by the end- with their recorded consent.


This site uses Google Analytics to record anonymised user interactions with the website content and other metrics such as user journey, session time, referring site and if a visitor arrived via an ad in Google search.

Where we send your data


Backups of our website files and database are created and stored locally on our server and remotely on 3rd party servers based but no processing of these files takes place there. These backups are stored to provide critical restore functionality for this website. Backups are sent to third-party destination servers, including but not limited to Amazon S3 (Privacy Policy).

Site adminstrators are required to use 16 digit alphanumeric passwords. This site runs a Security Plugin with firewall to prevent malicious and brute force attacks.

Backup zip files are stored with hashed file names to prevent filename guessing and directory browsing is disabled.

Which third parties we receive data from

WP Mail Logging

When you use this site several actions (e.g. form completion) trigger the dispatch of emails. They contain information about you associated with your email address. Which data are part of these emails depends on the action performed. These emails are stored and accessible to the site management as a log for 3 months. This is stored to help ensure website communications are functioning and assist with troubleshooting problems.

Akismet Anti-Spam

We collect information about visitors who complete our forms that use our Akismet anti-spam service. The information we collect typically includes the users IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the form submitter such as their name, email address, and the enquiry itself).
